On February 12, 2026, as part of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), The Bavarian Scientific Alliance for Peace, Conflict, and Security Research (FoKS) and AmerikaHaus Munich hosted the panel discussion “Defuse it or Lose it: How to Defuse Interdependence without Blowing up the Liberal World Order”. The session explored the strategic challenges posed by the weaponization of global interdependencies and focused on how liberal democracies can restore resilience in open systems, with particular attention to Germany’s and Europe’s roles, including initiatives like the EU’s Global Gateway.Prof. Eugénia da Conceição-Heldt participated as a panelist. The panel also featured Prof. Abraham Newman from Georgetown University and Dr. Andreas Kruck from LMU Munich, and was moderated by Prof. Jana Hönke from the University of Bayreuth.
